The Netherlands played its first match in 1930 (July 1) at home in The Hague, losing 0-6 to the Belgian rugby team. Later that year the second match in Brussels followed, which was lost 11-0. However, both matches are not recognized by the Dutch Rugby Union because both the Dutch and Belgian Rugby Unions did not exist at the time. According to the Dutch Rugby Union (NRB), the first official international match was the international match played in Amsterdam in 1932, again against Belgium (6-6). Incidentally, according to the NRB, that match should not have counted, but it did so anyway because the Belgian association already existed at the time and the establishment of the NRB was well advanced. The fourth international match, on December 18, 1932 in Eindhoven against the German rugby team (11-24), is the first international match since the founding of the NRB.[3] In the rest of the 1930s, the Netherlands played against Belgium and Germany a number of times and also against Romania a few times. The Netherlands achieved mixed results in this match, but in general the team lost out to its opponent.
