The Alkmaar Rugby Union Football Club is a rugby club from Alkmaar, North Holland.

On October 11, 1973, the Alkmaar Rugby Union Football Club (abbreviation: ARUFC) was officially founded by Jan Kuijpers and Gerard de Groot, they were the members from the very beginning.

Jan Kuijpers, originally a player in Amstelveen in the rugby department of NFC (present: NRC), first became a trainer of the Castricum Rugby Club in 1968, where he met Gerard de Groot, who trained and played there. Both lived in Alkmaar at the time, the choice was quickly made to drive to Castricum together. They rode back and forth on Gerard de Groot's motorcycle for three years, until the idea arose to set up a Rugby Club in Alkmaar.
